Really, when it comes to avocados all you really need is a squeeze of lime and pinch of salt. But throwing a simple twist like green apples livens things up a little. My boyfriend, who is usually the one to make the guacamole, says the simpler, the better. The tartness and sweetness of the green apple are what make this recipe so good and so different from your average guacamole recipe (and I do LOVE my average guacamole recipe). The jalapeños give it a little bit of kick and the lime juice and salt balance it out.
Serve this with your favourite chips, chopped veggies or use it as a spread for a sandwich or burger. Happy guacamole-ing!

Green Apple Guacamole
A simple twist on the classic guacamole with green apple and jalapeno.

2 large avocados
1/2 jalapeno, deseeded and minced
1 large granny smith apple, grated
lime juice to taste
salt and pepper to taste
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 onion, minced
- Scoop the flesh of the avocado into a bowl. Mash with a fork.
- Stir in the jalapeno and grated green apple.
- Add lime juice, salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve with fresh cilantro and your favourite tortilla chips.
