I know as soon as fall hits everyone is pumpkin spice this and pumpkin spice that. Not me though. I like pumpkin spice but when those leaves start turning that golden shade all I want is cardamom. GIVE ME ALL THE CARDAMOM. Seriously though, I have an ongoing list of cardamom flavoured items to add to this blog. I need to hold myself back or this will just become the cardamom blog.
I have only ever tried the green cardamom but there is black cardamom as well. Used extensively in Indian cuisine (ummm hello masala chai) this spice is a member of the ginger family so has some of the same healing benefits. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for digestive issues along with other aromatic spices like fennel and coriander.
I don’t know if I can actually call this recipe a latte as there is not actual espresso and I didn’t steam the milk, but I’m going to call it a latte anyways. Maybe more of an elixir? No matter what it is called it is warming, delicious and satisfies my cardamom craving. I hope it satisfies yours as well.

Where do you buy your rose water?? I have seen recipes using rose water before, mostly for skincare. My chefs at school used it in breads and truffles too. They imported their’s from France…. There must be somewhere local we can buy, no?
Hi Simone! I honestly think I got mine at a Loblaws grocery store here in Toronto! It’s not from France but I think it’s Arabic. I have found that the different brands can vary a lot in terms of rosey-ness.
I make a rose petal and cardamom syrup which works well in this recipe… nowis thetime of year to make it! You’ll need 1 cup of rose petals 1/4 cup green cardamoms, 2cups sugar, 2 cups water, juice of a lemon and a couple of drops of vanilla extract. Boil the roses and cardamoms with the water for ten mins, turn out the heat, add the lemon and vanilla… leave overnight… next day strain, add the sugar… bring to the boil slowly and simmer for 5 mins… pour into sterilised bottles… perfect for This recipe
Hi Helena! This sounds absolutely divine! I must try to make it. Thanks for sharing!
Sounds lovely?Where do you get the edible rose petals?
Hi Rachelle! I ordered mine from Mountain Rose Herbs online but if you have a reputable herbalist in your area they might carry them!
