Put your hand up if you get sick at least once a winter?

I thought so. I also used to find myself getting sick every winter (siigh) but over the years have learned that reducing my sugar intake, upping my vitamins and trying to get lots of rest helps tremendously. And the for the last two seasons I have taken Wild Muskoka’s Elderberry Syrup and  have stayed healthy the WHOLE WINTER. Imagine that. Everyone else is sneezing, coughing and just exhausted and here I am feeling fabulous.

Wild Muskoka Botanicals was kind enough to send me some of their product so I could share with you the magic of elderberries. I created this beautiful warm tonic to sip on throughout the winter with blood orange juice, ginger, lemon and of course, elderberry syrup. It’s the perfect winter elixir to keep you healthy!

This is not your typical pumpkin recipe. Nope. No PSL flavour here. There is no cinnamon in this recipe either. No nutmeg, no cloves, and no allspice. (I know! How can this be any good? But it is, trust me!)

There is however, fresh ginger, green apple and lemon making the most delicious, zingy smoothie. YAAAUM!

It’s prime time for margaritas right now given that Cinco de Mayo is this weekend and everyone is looking for an excuse to drink alcohol and eat tacos! I however, mostly prefer virgin cocktails and if I can sneak in something healthy then I’m even more excited. Like this kombucha margarita mocktail! We sip tea on the daily in this household. On the couch with Netflix or the Toronto Raptors bouncing around in front of us, on the deck in the sweet summer evenings, in the kitchen as we prep, formulate and invent new(or old) recipes/meals and even (gasp!) in bed with a good book.  We don’t drink coffee in our home simply because we can’t be bothered. I am not a fan and if my man wants some he goes to a local cafe where they can make it much better than we can.  So, we stick to tea.
